Narrative

That portion of the coast of the Antarctic Continent lying to the south of Cape Colbeck. Named for Lieutenant Choku Shirase who led the Japanese Expedition, 1910-12, in the "Kainan Maru". Shore parties explored part of the Ross Ice Shelf and also to the edge of the Alexandra Mountains, while the vessel sailed east to 151°20' W.
