Narrative

A freshwater lake on Chapman Ridge, in Kemp Land, about 2 km west of Lake Reynolds. The crustacean Daphniopsis studeri found in the lake was the first record west of the Vestfold Hills.

Named For

Named after Vic Barkell, helicopter pilot at Mawson in the 1978-79 summer who greatly assisted the lake survey.
