Photographed by Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. in 1956-57, and mapped from these photos in 1959. Named by the UK-APC for Albrecht von Haller (1708-1777), Swiss physiologist who made important contributions to medical knowledge (e.g., mechanism of heartbeat, action of bile).
