Narrative

Small area, mainly ice-covered but bounded by several rock exposures, forming part of the peninsula behind Cape Decouverte. Charted and named in 1951 by the FrAE. The name derives from the muddy pools of melting water which form there during periods of summer thaw, "le marais" being French for marsh.
