Ice-filled inlet 6 mi wide, which recedes 13 mi in a NW direction between the Smith and Bowman Peninsulas, along the E coast of Palmer Land. Discovered by members of the USAS in a flight from East Base on Dec. 30, 1940, and named for Nantucket Island, MA, home of early New England whalers of the first half of the 19th century.
