This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The lake is a pear shaped, permanently frozen epiglacial lake on the edge of the plateau, with an approximate area of 20.5 ha. It is at the extreme northern and central end of the Central Masson Range.

Named For

The lake ice surface is composed of prominent mega crystals not seen on the other epiglacial lakes in the Framnes Mountains. These crystals form patterns in the ice, hence the name "Patterned Lake".
