Narrative

A slightly brackish lake, with an area of about 16ha and a shoreline of 3.5km located in the central part of Broad Peninsula, Vestfold Hills . It is the same height as Ephyra Lake, which is directly adjacent. In 1994 these lakes were joined by a shallow and narrow connection. First mapped on the original Vestfold Hills map Edition 1(1958)

Named For

The shape of the lake is reminiscent of a medusa jellyfish. Medusa Lake has been an informal name for this lake for many years, so much so that that the adjoining and smaller Lake Ephyra was so named because an ephyra is a juvenile medusa.
