This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The ice-covered peninsula on the N coast of Livingston Island that is bounded by Hero Bay to the E and Barclay Bay to the W. Extending 12.8 km in S-N direction, and 8.5 km wide. Its N extremity is formed by the ice-free Cape Shirreff. Named after Pope John Paul II (1920-2005) for his contribution to world peace and understanding among people.
