El nombre corresponde al apellido del teniente Jorge Calvo P., Ejército de Chile, quien participó en la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1949-1950. Islote de aproximadamente media milla de ancho, que se sitúa a unos 2,5 cables al S del extremo SE de la isla Duchaylard, en el canal Grandidier, a la altura del cabo García de la costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
