El nombre corresponde al apellido del comandante de escuadrilla Alamiro Castillo Ayala, Fuerza Aérea de Chile, quien participó en la comisión interventora durante la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1970-1971. Cerro que se ubica en la parte central de la mitad S de la isla Águila, 7 millas al N de la isla Vega, frente a la península Luis Felipe, costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
