El nombre corresponde al apellido del capitán de bandada Eduardo Fornet Fernández, Fuerza Aérea de Chile, que realizó vuelos en avión Beaver y helicóptero Bell en el Territorio Chileno Antártico durante la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1957-1958. Grupo de montes que se levantan en el eje longitudinal de Tierra de O'Higgins, a aproximadamente a 135 millas al W del cabo Schlossbach de la costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
