Descubierto por la Expedición Antártica Belga, 1897-1899, al mando de De Gerlache. Apareció con el nombre Lion Glacier en un mapa basado en un levantamiento de personal de la DI, en el Discovery, en 1927. El nombre Lion, corresponde al de los vecinos seno León e isla León. El nombre actual corresponde al apellido del capitán de navío Ernesto Jobet Ojeda, comodoro de la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1969-1970. Glaciar que desciende en dirección SE hacia el seno León, a aproximadamente 11 millas al SW de la punta Van Ryswyck, en la costa SE de la isla Anvers, archipiélago de Palmer.
