El nombre corresponde al apellido del teniente 2º Antonio Mazzei Fernández, oficial del AO. "Maipo" de la Armada de Chile, quien participó en los trabajos hidrográficos ejecutados durante la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1959. Caleta situada a aproximadamente 2 millas al SSW del cabo Wauters, extremo N de la isla Two Hummoks, y que se abre en la parte central de la costa W de la isla Two Hummoks.
