Narrative

The channel (ca 1 km in length) seperates Omega Island and the island Bremeninsel. Both islands belong to the group of Melchior Islands, Danco Coast, Palmer Archipelago, located on the W side of the Antarctic Peninsula. On older maps (Arg. 1957/UK Hydr. Office 1986/BAS 1974) Bremeninsel is represented as a part of Omega Island. The existence of a channel between the two islands was detected during a cruise of the MS 'Bremen' by a zodiac excursion on 2003-FEB-02.
