This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The peak rising to 750 m in the N extremity of Imeon Range on Smith Island, South Shetland Islands. Situated 3.4 km WSW of Cape Smith and 3.2 km NE of Mount Christi. Overlooking Saparevo Glacier to the W and SW. Bulgarian mapping in 2008 Named after the settlement and medieval fortress of Matochina in Southeastern Bulgaria.
