This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The rocky, partly ice-free peak rising to 650 m in Metlichina Ridge on Oscar II Coast, Antarctic Peninsula. Situated 3.9 km S of St. Angelariy Peak, 2.58 km NW of Chapanov Peak and 5.45 km ENE of Yordanov Nunatak. Overlooking Punchbowl Glacier to the NE and Borima Bay to the SW. British mapping in 1976. Named after the Bulgarian meteorologist Vasil Zahariev (1929-2006) who worked at the Soviet base Mirny in 1967-69.
