This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The 1.6 km wide cove indenting for 850 m the NW coast of Low Island in the South Shetland Islands S of Cape Wallace, Zebil Island and Glumche Island, and N of Fernandez Point. British mapping in 2009. Named after the settlement of Smochevo in Western Bulgaria.
