This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The southernmost of Dunbar Islands in the South Shetland Islands. Situated 250 m S of Balsha Island, 1.27 km W of Slab Point and 2.52 km NNE of Kotis Point, Livingston Island. The feature is ice-free, extending 280 m in SE-NW direction and 90 m wide. British mapping in 1968 and Bulgarian mapping in 2009. Named after the settlement of Melyane in Northwestern Bulgaria.
