This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The ice-covered peak rising to 600 m in Brugmann Mountains on Liège Island in the Palmer Archipelago. Situated 2.14 km E by N of Vazharov Peak and 5.8 km SW of Neyt Point. Surmounting Coria Cove to the S and Shterna Glacier to the N. British mapping in 1978. Named after Ivan Balkanov, boatman at St. Kliment Ohridski base in 2002/03 and subsequent seasons.
