This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The island lying 1 km off the N coast of Anvers Island in the Palmer Archipelago and extending 900 m in N-S direction and 880 m in E-W direction. Situated 10.54 km NE of Quinton Point, 1.5 km WSW of Lajarte Islands, 8.93 km W of Cape Grönland and 3.38 km W by N of Oberbauer Point. British mapping in 1980. Named after Gergana Lapteva, geologist at St. Kliment Ohridski base in 2006/07 and subsequent seasons.
