This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The mostly ice-covered island extending 1.75 km in SE-NW direction and 580 m wide in the Pitt island group of Biscoe Islands. Situated 3.15 km S of Snodgrass Island and 4.4 km NW of Lacuna Island, and separated from neighbouring Slumkey Island to the WSW by an 80 m wide passage. British mapping in 1971. Named after the settlement of Kereka in Northern Bulgaria.
