This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The mostly ice-covered island in the Pitt island group of Biscoe Islands situated 1.43 km SE of Pickwick Island, 500 m S of Tupman Island and 900 m NW of Fizkin Island. The feature is 2.53 km long in WSW-ENE direction and 900 m wide. British mapping in 1971. Named after the British cartographer Aaron Arrowsmith (1750-1823) who published a map of the south polar region in 1794.
