Origin

This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The mostly ice-covered peak of elevation 1100 m near the W extremity of Avroleva Heights on Brabant Island in the Palmer Archipelago. Situated 5.84 km SW of Petroff Point, 3.2 km W by N of Mount Ghiuselev and 11.5 km NE of Mount Parry. Steep and partly ice-free NNE slopes. Surmounts Mitev Glacier to the NE, Svetovrachene Glacier to the S and Doriones Saddle to the WSW. British mapping in 1980 and 2008. Named after the ancient Roman station of Opizo in Southern Bulgaria.
