This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The ice-covered plateau of elevation 1100 to 1700 m on the E side of Harvey Heights in Stribog Mountains on Brabant Island in the Palmer Archipelago. Extends 5.5 km in E-W direction and 3.3 km in N-S direction. Bounded by Laƫnnec Glacier on the N, Svetovrachene Glacier on the E and S, and the head of Malpighi Glacier on the SW. Connected to Avroleva Heights to the E by Doriones Saddle, and has its SW part abutted by Basarbovo Ridge. Steep and partly ice-free N slopes and small parts of the SE and SW slopes. British mapping in 1980 and 2008. Named after the settlement of Taran in Southern Bulgaria.
