This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The rocky peak rising to 1200 m on the W coast of Pernik Peninsula, Loubet Coast in Graham Land. Situated 4 km SE of Álvarez Point formed by an offshoot of the peak, 14.2 km SW of Mount Deeley, 9.8 km NNW of Zhelev Peak and 13.9 km NE of Hooke Point. Steep and partly ice-free slopes. Surmounts Lallemand Fjord to the W, Salmon Cove to the N, and Field Glacier to the SE and S. British mapping in 1978. Named after the Bulgarian geographer, ethnographer and historian Vasil Kanchov (1862-1902).
