This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The rounded ice-covered buttress extending 13 km in SE-NW direction and 16 km in SSW-NNE direction, rising to 1550 m on Loubet Coast in Graham Land. Situated on the W side of Hemimont Plateau, 11 km S of Armula Peak, 13 km NNE of Hayduta Buttress and 15.45 km ESE of Quervain Peak. Steep and partly ice-free S, W and N slopes. Surmounts Barnes Glacier to the S, Blind Bay to the SW, Forel Glacier and Sharp Glacier to the W, and Klebelsberg Glacier to the NE. British mapping in 1978. Named after the settlement of Smilyan in Southern Bulgaria.
