This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The rounded, mostly ice-covered buttress extending 13 km in E-W direction and 16 km in N-S direction, rising to 1600 m on Fallières Coast in Graham Land. Situated on the W side of Hemimont Plateau, 12.7 km S of Hayduta Buttress, 18.2 km NNE of Bunovo Peak and 11.4 km ENE of Glavinitsa Peak. Steep and partly ice-free S, W and N slopes. Surmounts Forbes Glacier to the S, Marvodol Glacier and Kashin Glacier to the W, and Perutz Glacier to the N. British mapping in 1978. Named after the Bulgarian folklorist and ethnographer Kuzman Shapkarev (1834-1909).
