This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The mostly ice-fee rocky ridge extending 800 m in E-W direction and 550 m wide, rising to 200 m on the S side of Bongrain Ice Piedmont in northern Alexander Island. Situated 630 m from the seashore, 1.85 km N by W of Cape Vostok, 13.4 km W of Boyn Ridge and 6.1 km NW of St. George Peak. Surmounts Lazarev Bay to the S. Visited on 3 January 1988 by the geological team of Christo Pimpirev and Borislav Kamenov (First Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition), and Philip Nell and Peter Marquis (British Antarctic Survey). On that occasion, a small rocky offshoot situated 360 m SE of the nunatak's summit was designated as the site for a future Bulgarian Antarctic base. However, the two prefabricated huts brought for the purpose onboard the Russian research vessel Somov in April 1988 could not be helicoptered ashore due to bad weather, and were erected on Livingston Island instead. British mapping in 1991.
