Origin

This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The mostly ice-covered buttress extending 9 km in NE-SW direction and 5.75 km wide, rising to 1800 m on the W side of Rouen Mountains in northern Alexander Island. Situated 9.4 km SW of Mount Hall, 10 km NW of Mount Sanderson, and 15.14 km ENE of Breze Peak in Havre Mountains. Surmounts Rosselin Glacier to the S, the head of Palestrina Glacier to the SW, Russian Gap to the NW and Frachat Glacier to the NNW. Visited on 10 January 1988 by the geological team of Christo Pimpirev and Borislav Kamenov (First Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition), and Philip Nell and Peter Marquis (British Antarctic Survey). British mapping in 1971.

Named after the region of Paroriya in medieval Southeastern Bulgaria.
