This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The 10.5 km wide bay indenting for 3.2 km the N coast of Alexander Island 25 km W of its NE extremity Cape Arauco. Surmounted on the S by Mount Bayonne, the N extremity of Rouen Mountains. Vicinity visited on 6 January 1988 by the geological team of Christo Pimpirev and Borislav Kamenov (First Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition), and Philip Nell and Peter Marquis (British Antarctic Survey). British mapping in 1991.

Named For

Named after the ancient Thracian settlement and Roman fortress of Skaidava in Northeastern Bulgaria.
