Origin

This name originates from Bulgaria. It is part of the Bulgaria Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The ice-covered peak rising to 1550 m on the W side of Rouen Mountains in northern Alexander Island. Situated 15.92 km SW of Mount Hankey, 13.74 km NW of Mount Hall, and 18.5 km NE of Breze Peak and 17.5 km ENE of Mount Newman in Havre Mountains. Surmounts Frachat Glacier to the SE, Russian Gap to the W and Mozgovitsa Glacier to the NNW. Visited on 7 January 1988 by the geologists Christo Pimpirev and Borislav Kamenov during the First Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition. British mapping in 1971.

Named after the Bulgarian scientist Christo Pimpirev, doyen and leader of the national Antarctic programme.
