Narrative

A partially ice free volcanic feature approximately 13.4km north-northeast of Mount Atlas, and being at the northern extreme of The Pleiades, the group of volcanic features west of the head of Mariner Glacier, Victoria Land.

Named For

Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after France A. Córdova, astrophysicist and 14th Director of the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), 2014-2020. President Emerita of Purdue University Chancellor Emerita of the University of California, Riverside former Chair of the Smithsonian Board of Regents former member of NSF’s National Science Board and the first woman to serve as NASA’s chief scientist.
