Feature type: Ridge
This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
A series of parallel rock ridges interspaced by small snow-covered valleys, the whole trending north-south for approximately 30km and forming a portion of the divide between Lowery and Robb Glaciers.
The name was applied in about 1960 by New Zealand parties working in the area as Softbed Nunataks, and used on NZMS166 SU56-60/10 (1964). However the name does not appear to have ever been approved. In 1965 the NZ-APC agreed to a proposal by US-ACAN to amend the generic term to Softbed Ridges, for accuracy.
