A prominent mountain on the east side of Starshot Glacier, 9.1km north of Thompson Mountain in Surveyors Range.
Discovered by the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE) (1960-61) and named on theme for James McKerrow (1834–1919), a former Surveyor General of New Zealand. McKerrow arrived in New Zealand in 1859 and was appoint Surveyor-General in 1879 following a long career exploring, mapping, and surveying, particularly in the provinces of Otago and Southland.
