This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A small island, ~ 2.8 km E of Harbour Island, in the Bol'shie Skalistye Islands, located in southern Prydz Bay.
The oval-shaped appearance of the island which, together with the indentation on the eastern side, gives the impression of a mitten.
