A mountain about 2700 m above sea level, about 22 km south-west of Mount Field, on the western side of the Ross Ice Shelf. Discovered by the British National Antarctic Expedition (1901-04) under Scott, who named it after Sir William Wharton, Hydrographer of the Navy, 1884-1904.
