A range, 22 km long, on the western side of the Starshot Glacier. Named by the southern party of the New Zealand Geological and Survey Antarctic Expedition (1959-60) after Dr. Charles W.M. Swithinbank, (then) glaciologist of the University of Michigan, U.S.A., later a member of the research staff ot the Scott Polar Research Institute, Cambridge.
