Narrative

A submarine bank about 45 km off the Mawson Coast of Mac.Robertson Land. The bank was discovered on 9 January 1934 by the Norwegian whale factory ship Solglimt, which found the bottom shelved steeply from 5,100 to 310 m. It was thought that there was a large edge there to which was given the name Storeggen (The Great Ridge).
