Narrative

An island off Mule Peninsula in the southern part of the Vestfold Hills, about 1 km south of Hawker Island. Mapped from air photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37). Photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47), the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1956 and ANARE in 1957 and 1958. Named Ostrov Zolotova (Zolotov Island) by the Soviet Expedition after A.H. Zolotov, hydrologist, who died in Antarctica.
