This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The westernmost of a pair of islands lying about 0.6 km west of the north-west tip of Stornes Peninsula in the Larsemann Hills. This island also lies 1.0 km south of Knuckey Island.
Named after Sgt. A Richardson, RAAF Beaver Mechanic at Mawson in 1958, who serviced aircraft operating in the area at that time.
