This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
The largest of a group of small islands lying about 3.5 km north-west of Stornes Peninsula in the Larsemann Hills. Plotted by Norwegian cartographers from air photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition 1936-37 and called Firlingane.
Named after Osmar White, Journalist, who landed in the Larsemann Hills from MV Thala Dan on 7 February, 1958.
