rising to 690m on N Rongé Island (q.v.), Danco Coast, following the cruise of HMS Snipe in this area in January 1948, was named after Adm. Sir William George Tennant, RN (1890-1963), Commander-in-Chief, America and West Indies Station, 1946-49, who flying his flag in HMS Nigeria cruised as far S as Drake Passage in January 1949 (APC, 1955, p.20; BA chart 3213, 23.iii.1956; BAS 250 sheet SQ 19-20/4, 1-DOS 1974). Conspicuous peak, 690 m, situated at the N end of Ronge Island, off the W coast of Graham Land. Discovered by the BelgAE under Gerlache, who charted Ronge Island in 1898. Named by members of HMS Snipe, following an Antarctic cruise in January 1948, for V. Admiral Sir William Tennant, then Commander-in-Chief of the America and West Indies Station. |

Descubierto por la Expedición Belga del teniente Adrien de Gerlache, que visitó la isla en 1898. El nombre es una deformación del colocado por el H.M.S. "Snipe" en 1948 en honor del vicealmirante Sir William Tennant. Monte cónico de laderas escarpadas, de 688 metros de altura, que se alza cerca del cabo Georges, extremo N de la isla De Ronge, frente a la costa occidental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins. |
