W entrance point of Huon Bay and N point of Cockerell Peninsula, Trinity Peninsula, was charted by FAE, 1837-40, on 27 February 1838 and named Cap Ducorps after Louis-Jacques Ducorps (b. 1811), Commis de Marine de deuxième classe [=writer 2nd class] in the expedition ship Astrolabe (d'Urville, 1838, map following p.1170; Vincendon-Dumoulin, atlas, 1847, Pl. 8). Cabo Ducorps (Spain. DH chart 458, 1861; Pierrou, 1970, p.325; Chile, IHA, 1974, p.107). The cape was resurveyed by FIDS from "Hope Bay" in 1946. A point marking the N end of Cockerell Peninsula on the N coast of Trinity Peninsula. Discovered by a French expedition, 1837-40, under Capt. Jules Dumont d'Urville, and named by him for Louis Ducorps, a member of the expedition. |

Descubierto por la Expedición Antártica Francesa de 1837-1840, al mando del comandante Jules Dumont D'Urville quien le dio este nombre por Louis Ducorps, un miembro de la expedición. El cabo fue reidentificado y cartografiado por el FIDS en 1946. Es el extremo de una península que se eleva gradualmente de 2,5 millas de largo, situado entre los cabos Legoupil y Marescot, en la costa NW de la península Luis Felipe. |
