inlet of Larsen Ice Shelf between Veier Head and Astro Cliffs, Oscar II Coast, was photographed from the air by RARE and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from Hope Bay in 1947; named after Dr Raymond John Adie (1925-2006), South African born British geologist; with FIDS, Hope Bay, 1947-48, and Stonington Island , 1948-50, and subsequently Chief Geologist, FIDS/BAS until 1967; Head, Earth Sciences Division, BAS, 1967-73; Deputy Director, 1973-85; Editor, FIDS/BAS Scientific Reports, 1956-80, and British Antarctic Survey Bulletin, 1963-80. The name was first applied to the U-shaped feature at the head of the inlet (APC, 1955, p.4). Caleta Feijoo, probably referring to this feature (Argentina. MM, 1953, p.325). Caleta Adie (Argentina. MM chart 121, 1954; Pierrou, 1970, p.148). The name was redefined following further surveys by FIDS from Hope Bay in 1953 and 1955, when Jason Peninsula (q.v.) was delineated as forming the N side of the inlet (APC, 1958, p.4; DOS 813, British Antarctic Territory sheet, 1963). Ice-filled inlet, 25 mi long in a NW-SE direction, lying E of Churchill Peninsula along the E coast of Graham Land. Charted by the FIDS and photographed from the air by the RARE during 1947. Named by the FIDS for R.J. Adie, South African geologist with FIDS, 1947-49.

Situada al N de la península Churchill, al E de la península Antártica. Bautizada en honor de R.J.Adie, geólogo sudafricano del FIDS en bahía Esperanza (1947) y bahía Margarita (1948-49). El topónimo fue propuesto por J.M. Wordie y B.B. Roberts en febrero de 1949, luego de los relevamientos de S.J. Francis en diciembre de 1947. El nombre figura en una lista de topónimos antárticos (156 HN. d.) que en julio de 1959 se envió al Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores. Fue publicado por primera vez en la carta 121 del año 1954 y en TSAA1. SHN carta H-7.

Fue cartografiada por el FIDS y fotografiada desde el aire por la RARE, al mando de Ronne, durante 1947. El nombre fue puesto por el FIDS y corresponde al apellido de R. J. Adie, geólogo sudafricano integrante de la expedición. Ensenada de aproximadamente 15 millas de saco, en dirección NNW-SSE, que se ubica al E de la península Churchill, entre ésta y la península Veier, en la costa oriental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.

A bay about 4 km across and 4 km long, in the south-eastern part of Prydz Bay. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from aerial photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37) and called Hovdevika. Photographed by an ANARE aircraft on 26 August, 1957. Renamed by ANARE after the daughter of Squadron Leader P. Clemence, RAAF, who commanded the Antarctic Flight at Mawson in 1957.
