Fue descubierto el 11 de enero de 1910 por la Expedición Antártica Francesa del Dr. Jean B. Charcot quien le puso este nombre por su hija Monique. Es el más occidental de los tres montes notables situados en el lado N de la isla Charcot. Tiene 609 metros de altura y está a 20 millas de distancia del monte Marion.

rising to c. 600m on N coast of Charcot Island (q.v.), was roughly mapped by FAE, 1908-10, on 11 January 1910 and, in association with Marion Nunataks (q.v.) and Mount Martine (q.v.), named Sommet Monique after Monique Charcot (b.1907), second daughter of Dr J.-B. Mountain, c. 600 m, with a prominent rocky N face and ice-covered S slopes, 3 mi W of Marion Nunataks on the N coast of Charcot Island. Discovered and roughly mapped on Jan. 11, 1910, by the FrAE under Dr. Jean B. Charcot, and named by him in association with Marion Nunataks and Mount Martine after his daughter, Monique. Photographed from the air on Feb. 9, 1947, by USN Operation HighJump and mapped from these photos by Searle of the FIDS in 1960.
