between Collins Bay and Beascochea Bay, Graham Coast, was roughly charted by BeAE, 13 February 1898, and named Cap de Trooz after J. de Trooz (Trooz Glacier, q.v.) The cape was further charted by FAE, 1903-05, in 1904 and, because of ignorance of the earlier naming, renamed Cap des Trois Pérez after the brothers Manuelo, Fernando and Leopoldo Pérez, of Buenos Aires, who there assisted the expedition in December 1903 and February 1905 (Charcot, 1906a, map facing p.316). Prominent cape between Collins Bay and Beascochea Bay on the W coast of Graham Land. Discovered by the BelgAE, 1897-99, under Gerlache, but apparently not named by them until about 1904, when in working up their scientific reports they gave it the name Trooz. In the meantime, Charcot's FrAE, 1903-05, left for the Antarctic and in Nov. 1904 resighted the same cape, to which they gave the name Trois Perez, for the brothers Fernando, Leopoldo and Manuel Perez of Buenos Aires. Maurice Bongrain in his report of 1914 acknowledges the Belgian name Trooz for this cape. However, the US-ACAN has retained the Charcot name because of wider usage, and has given the name Trooz to the large glacier 5 mi NE of Cape Perez.

Jules de Trooz était Ministre de l'Interieur et de l'instruction publique. Il instaura la Commission de la Belgica qui publia les résultats de l'E.A.B. 1897-1899 sur le navire Belgica.

Fue descubierto por la Expedición Belga de 1897-1899, al mando del teniente Adrien de Gerlache, quienes no le dieron el nombre sino hasta 1904 cuando trabajaron en sus informes científicos. Ellos le dieron el nombre de Trooz. Al mismo tiempo la Expedición Francesa de 1903-1905, al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot, iba a la Antártica y en noviembre de 1904 volvieron a ver el mismo cabo al cual ellos le dieron el nombre de Trois Pérez por los hermanos Fernando Leopoldi y Manuelo Pérez, de Buenos Aires. Maurice Bongran en su informe de 1914 acepta el nombre belga Trooz para este cabo, sin embargo el Comité Consultor de Nombres Antárticos de los EE.UU. aceptó el nombre de Charcot de Trois Pérez, debido a que tenía más uso y que aplicó el nombre Trooz a un gran glaciar inmediatamente al N de este cabo. Cabo que se forma al N de la entrada a bahía Beascochea, en la costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins. Lo constituye un promontorio de granito rosado de 200 metros de altura que se alza verticalmente desde el mar. Presenta tres cerros escalonados de los cuales el más próximo al mar es un cono agudo.
