comprising Aldea Island, Landrum Island and Ramïrez Island, off Wordie Ice Front, S Marguerite Bay, Fallières Coast, were photographed from the air by BGLE on 16 August 1936, and later roughly mapped from the photographs (Stephenson, 1940, map facing p. 232); seen by RARE from Port of Beaumont on 23 March 1947 and reported in 69 10'S 68 55'W; named after Miss Ruth Bugge of Molde, Norway, a niece of Capt. F. Ronne, USNR (Ronne, 1948b, p. 362, 391; APC, 1955, p. 6; BA, 1956, p. 81; chart 3571, 14.vii.1961). Ruth Bugge Islands (AGS map, 1948). The name Bugge Islands was also applied to Mica Islands (q.v.) (Ronne, 1948b, map p.356). The islands were surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Stonington Island" in December 1948. Small group of ice-covered islands lying close off the front of Wordie Ice Shelf and between 4 and 11 mi NW of Mount Guernsey, off the W coast of Antarctic Peninsula. First seen from the air and photographed by the BGLE in 1936, and later roughly mapped from the photographs. Observed in 1947 from the Port of Beaumont, Texas by the RARE under Ronne, who named these islands for his niece, Ruth Bugge, who supplied woolen clothing from Norway for the RARE.

Avistadas por primera vez desde el aire y fotografiadas en 1936 por la BGLE de 1934-1937, al mando de John Rymill, y luego cartografiadas desde los mismos fotogramas. Las islas fueron observadas en 1947 desde la nave "Port of Beaumont", Texas por el RARE, al mando de Ronne, quien le dio el nombre por el apellido de su sobrina Ruth Bugge, quien abasteció de ropa de lana desde Noruega a la expedición. La Expedición Antártica Chilena de ese mismo año, bautizó individualmente a las dos islas de más al N con los nombres de Aldea y Eleuterio Ramírez, figurando con esos nombres en cartas de 1947. Grupo de tres islas que se desprenden de la punta coronada por el monte Guernsey, en la costa S de la bahía Margarita, costa occidental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
