Originally mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photos by the Lars Christensen Expedition, 1936-37, and named Flatvær. JARE Headquarters gave the name Ongul Syotô (Ongul islands) the islands lying between 68°55.5'S and 69°05.5'S, and 39°25'E and 39°40'E in 1977. |
