S-most of the Debenham Islands, Fallières Coast, was charted by BGLE in February 1936 (Rymill, 1938a, p.12); named Audrey after Audrey Margaret Debenham (Mrs C. H. Kinder) (b. 1922), second daughter of Prof. Frank Debenham (Debenham Islands, q.v.) (BA chart 3213, 7.ii.1947). Audrey Island (USHO chart 6651, 1946; BA chart 3213, 6.x.1950; APC, 1955, p.4). The feature is a south-north trending short gorge in the Vestfold Hills 10 m wide and 10-30 m deep. It drains the north-west end of Hidden Valley into Crooked Lake. There is a small waterfall at the top end. The gorge is "hidden" behind an island in Crooked Lake. |
