on NE side of Mount Rendu near head of Heim Glacier, Arrowsmith Peninsula, following geological work in the area by BAS from Rothera, 1980-81, and in association with the names of glaciologists grouped in this area, was named after Albert Bauer (b. 1916), French engineer and glaciologist who conducted research on glaciers in Greenland, Iceland, Îles Kerguelen and Terre Adélie; formerly with Expéditions Polaires Fran aises (Moyes and Hamer, 1984, map Fig. 1, p. 42; APC, 1986, p. 3).
